Had my 2012 Focus (petrol 1.0 ecoboost) serviced recently and the day after the service I had the Engine Malfunction Light - service Now message come up on the dashboard. Took it back to the garage and they checked for codes and couldn't find anything, told me to keep an eye on it. I have a 2008 Fiesta 1.6 TDCi. Today, my Engine Malfunction Light came on. Car feels absolutely fine, no limp mode, no loss of power. I put and EGR blanking plate on 8th of June on the car, drove it without a single issue. When connected to a OBD reader it says that everything is fine and I have no codes whatsoever. Ford Year: 2016. Posted August 18, 2010. Hi everyone iam new on here last week my Focus suddenly had a engine malfuction, and lost power RAC came and did a diognostic test.  He said it was either a faulty sensor or a loose pipe as it was very loose when he took the pipe off.  However the engine malfunction has been coming on frequently since then sometimes after 5 miles or 2010 focus 1.6 tdci 5 speed. No dismantling is necessary. Switch is visible to left of battery through gap between engine. This can be replaced in 15 mins, with 22mm deep socket,1/2 inch articulate joint, short extension, then long extension. Once your left arm is in there, everything is done by feel, as no visibility possible. Just had the battery go on my Focus 1.6tdci 2011, bought a new battery and fitted it but now the car will not start. All I get is a message saying 'Engine malfunction service now' followed by 'Hill start assist not available'.
